Activated Biocarbon

Another application of biocarbon is the conversion of the biocarbon to activated biocarbon. Activated carbon is a traditional technology for air and water treatment. However, the “new science” of activated biocarbon (i.e., activated carbon from biomass) is an exciting opportunity to produce renewable environmental products that are in many ways superior to their fossil fuel based competitor products that are currently used. The property of activated carbon that results in its unique ability to trap trace contaminants is its porous structure and huge surface area. The biocarbon produced by the Alterna Biocarbon process has a native activation that results in exceptional economic advantages compared to many traditional carbons.
